On Becoming a Better Programmer
Nick Halstead runs a programming blog and is one of my favorite reads. His insight is very good and he has a lot of experience. His post today was about becoming a better programmer and was a very good read. I totally agree with what he was saying, but I had something to add. I think we would all write better code if we had this in the back of our minds:
Always code as if the guy who ends up maintaining your code will be a violent psychopath who knows where you live. –Martin Golding

Nicely put… I agree. I felt like I was on the edge of psychosis before, having to deal with someone else’s mess!
I always find it amazing that people with virtually no programming ability land jobs as developers. Furthermore, people that do have programming skills can write some truly awful and unmanageable code.
Okay, are you referring to me?
LOL. No. I was actually referring to a few guys that did some work for one of my clients before I took over. I’m dealing with quite a mess.
